St. Patrick’s Day has morphed into a national holiday whether you are Irish or not. It’s hard to resist the fun of dressing green, the parades and, of course, the city-wide celebrations that spread across the country. To get into the holiday spirit, start your morning off with one of these five festive St. Patrick’s Day Smoothies.
Four Leaf Clover Smoothie
Vegan, green and sweet? Yes, please! Try this simple four ingredient smoothie.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup non-dairy milk
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 cup spinach
- 1 cup pineapple chunks
- If not using a frozen banana, then add some ice
Instructions: Add chia seeds, flax seeds or hemp seeds, if desired. Blend it all together and enjoy!
Luck of the Irish Smoothie
This smoothie is similar to the one above, but a little more antioxidant-packed. If you want to start your St. Patty’s Day off with a handful of nutrients (and a little bit of luck), then take a look at this recipe below.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup baby spinach
- 1 cup kale with the stems removed
- 1 green apple, cored
- 1 frozen banana
- ½ inch ginger, peeled and minced
- 3 tbsp chia seeds
- If not using a frozen banana, then add some ice
- Add honey to taste
Instructions: Blend all together!
Top of the Mornin’ Smoothie
Not everything is green on St. Patrick’s Day, including Leprechaun's hair! If you’re not into green, then celebrate with this orange stress relieving smoothie that is guaranteed to start your day off right.
Ingredients:
- 2 bananas, frozen or fresh
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1 peeled orange
- ¾ cup almond milk
- 1 carrot, peeled
- Honey to taste or 1 tsp vanilla extract
- If not using a frozen banana, then add some ice
Instructions: Blend all together and serve!
Leprechaun’s Suit Smoothie
Why not have both? This smoothie is not only delicious but is also top in presentation. First, make the green smoothie, then the orange smoothie, then layer them to create a beautiful St. Patrick’s Day masterpiece that resembles the Leprechaun himself!
Ingredients:
Green smoothie
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 cup pineapple
- ½ cup mango
- 1 cup spinach
- 1 cup water or milk (both dairy and non dairy work!)
Orange smoothie
- 2 frozen bananas
- 1 orange, peeled
- ½ cup mango
- 1 large carrot, peeled
- 1 cup orange juice
Instructions: Blend both smoothies individually. Pour the green smoothie first, then layer the orange on top. Top it off with some chia seeds and enjoy!
Pot O’ Gold Smoothie
What’s St. Patrick’s Day without some gossip of a pot of gold? Get rich in antioxidants with this gold smoothie.
Ingredients:
- 1 banana
- 1 large mandarin orange, peeled
- ½ cup pineapple
- ½ cup mango, fresh or frozen
- ½ cup water
- ½ cup coconut milk
- ¼ teaspoon turmeric, fresh grated
- ¼ teaspoon ginger, fresh grated
- Honey to taste
Instructions: Blend all ingredients, except turmeric and ginger. Once everything is blended smoothly, add the turmeric and ginger, and enjoy!
